The Unhealthy “ Practitioner Lifestyle” Trap.

Practitioners in the "Wellness Industry" dream of a lifestyle when they can live life to the fullest resisting stress and illness. They want to create that healthy balance in their life and business so they can continue to share their healing gifts with the world…

The only problem with that is for most practitioners in business, their lifestyle turns into an unhealthy trap more than anything else..and that’s what this video is all about….

I really look forward to hearing from you:) In fact, I hadn't received anything in my email for awhile and was just wondering.....where is Shilpa......I'm happy to hear you were unplugged and nurturing your soul. You give so much.
I am just beginning to add homeopathy in to my already busy skin care practice. As I get more cases, I wonder how this will all work out in a balanced way so I don't get overwhelmed and burnt out....I also wondered how a busy homeopathic practitioner can completely unplug? It seems like I always have to be available to my clients in case something comes up. I can see how educating ones clients is very important so they don't have to call or email about every little issue that's just as a beginner, I feel like I want to be in close contact with them while I'm getting them going on a remedy cause it is helping me learn what to expect, how long it takes to see some results,building the art of homeopathic case mgt. I am seeing that I have to get the ones I've taken going and stable before taking on new clients. I can also see that boundaries are very important for me. I tend to give too much. I do have my daily rituals of self care tho, that I always make time for. So, I appreciate you opening up the conversation about this. Suzan

Thanks Shilpa, gardening for me is one of my best tools. It is grounding, beautiful, growing and also the decaying aspect, but at a pace that I can cope with as I guess it is a natural progression. There are no phones or internet in my garden. Thanks for the reminder about re charging our batteries

many thanks Shilpa for your wise words. Nurturing yourself is very important. I go to the beach to relax. But I am very fortunate here!! I think keeping boundaries is important.. even in the sea people may see you and want to discuss their complaints!! When you live in a small community you have to beware of getting work mixed up with leisure.! And yes nature is the best place to recharge your batteries. It is much harder in a city where there are few green spaces. All the best, Mary

So true Shilpa. My strategies to stay sane and focused include a 2 week Panchakarma at a Perth Ayurvedic clinic...the other side of the continent and by the sea where I completely recharge and self heal for 2 weeks every year. After flirting with serious illness 2 years ago (due to exactly what you described - 'burn out') I now have chosen to work 4 focus days each week and leave my clinic behind for 3 free ones, with the odd buffer day thrown in. I have always eaten and slept well and although I am a seriously senior citizen I still find enormous passion and energy for my work. I think I felt I was invincible when I first started practice - I know now that I'm not. I tell my patients 9as I tell myself that if I don't take care of me, no one else will

I agree with you totally. We all who practice have to be disconnected for a while. That is utterly needed. Our brains which work vigorously during treating a patient. After a long continued work it is fatigued and thinking capacity is reduced, I feel it. Thanks again shilpa to remind me the process to keep our brain healthy and sound.

I really liked this video. It is so important that we as practitioners keep ourselves healthy mind/soul/spirit.
After sitting with people and hearing their symptoms and woes for so much time, we need to prevent ourselves from over exposure and from taking on their illness.
I find it very helpful, as a Christian practitioner, to sit with my Bible in the mornings, and get my strength from God.
But in addition, getting space to myself and with my family, helps me to get my creative self back, after a really overworked week.

thank you Dr. shilpa ! well said about the Importance of rejuvenation. for me , 1. an extra sleep helps to rejuvenate.

if extra sleep not given the energy,
2. sitting quiet in a relaxed position and not trying to do any mental work after a cup of coffee. if this also not enough to rejuvenate, this sitting leads me to the way to rejuvenate and gives energy enough required to do things which rejuvenate and guides me. i spare only some extra time.
